When you’re a creative type, it’s a struggle to understand value. It’s tempting to believe that because your work doesn’t reach the masses or bring in a small fortune that your efforts, the fruit of your passion, have no value. This belief is soul crushing. More than that, however, it’s detrimental to society as whole. Art, architecture, dance, music, theatre, and the written word – these are the measure of a society. They are the gifts that pass from generation to generation. Cultivate their appreciation in your home, support them in your communities and encourage struggling family, friends and neighbors. It’s terrifying to bare your soul. A kind word is often more than enough to carry a discouraged heart over the next great mountain.
